For instance, Alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEs) in acrylic paints can disrupt hormones in humans, animals, and marine life. Most interior paints are acrylic-based, derived from fossil fuels, contributing to environmental microplastics and climate issues. Healthier options are mineral or plant-based paints, though they're less common and familiar.
